Setting the scenery:
This story is set in a large country, bordered by mountains on the north eastern corner. To the north is arctic tundra and to the south is the great sea. Beyond the western forest lies the great plains. A large section of the center of the country is desert, whilst near both the eastern and western borders are large forests with a variety of beasts and demons alike.

The Humans
The Humans live mainly in the 4 cities. They are aptly named South city, North city, East city and West city. There is a branch of the hunters guild and the adventurers guild in each of these cities, as well as many other small local guilds. In the numerous towns and outposts there are usually small groups of hunters from the hunters guild, tasked with protecting it from all attacking beasts and wild demons. Adventurers travel from town to town, exploring dungeons and helping the townspeople to recover lost/ stolen items.... Usually. However, there are black sheep in every flock
Guards:
Brown Guard: The Brown Guard is the most common and low ranking of the guards. They wear brown leather or copper armour and carry a single short sword and a baton. They are the regular patrol in the city, and they enforce the Law on the streets. Their ranks are made from common towns folk and 'fallen' noblemen and women.
Blue Guards: The Blue Guard are based in the nicer areas of the city. They wear golden armour and a blue cape. They deal with the disputes between the nobles and with serious investigations. During times of great need they will join the Brown Guard in patrolling the city, but they usually don't take part in those sorts of things. Their ranks are usually made of the third and fourth sons of noblemen, and occasionally the daughters of noblemen which have no dowry. 'Commoners' are only allowed to join the Blue Guard if they are of extremely high intelligence, or if they come from a more respectable merchant family.
Red Guards: The Red Guard are made up from members of both the Brown Guard and the Blue Guard that have exceptional battle prowess and are the guard for all the important political members of the human civilization. They wear a red cape and either silver armour if they come from the Brown guard or golden armour if they come from the Blue Guard. You cannot buy a place in the Red Guard with money or relations, you have to earn it.
Unfortunately this makes most of them pompus dicks that think they're better than everyone else.
They also deal with dangers to the general populace and have a rather abbrasive relationship with the hunter's guild due to the dangers that may follow the hunters home.

Wild Demons
The main targets of both hunters and adventurers are the wild demons. These tribes are often ruled by a monarch or matriarch, and usually have no laws on how they should treat humans and half-demons. They steal from and kill humans, so Hunts are issued for the slaying of some of the stronger and more dangerous individuals. The irrational ones which cannot communicate with any other species are called beasts. The animals which are farmed on the plains in the west are domesticated beasts.

The Great Demon Tribes
There are also many great demon tribes, such as the Cranes, Bison, Druids, Elves who have their own societies and freely interact with humans in the major cities. However some refuse to do so because they don't want to be seen near Humans, are hated by Humans and will be attacked by them on sight or never have a need to regularly interact with Humans. They have similar body structure to Humans, and interbreeding is possible. However, these tribes are often sworn enemies, who will not be seen in the same street or bar, so fights will often break out between them.
They are either ruled by a matriarch, monarch and/or noble council. None of the tribes incorporate commoners into their councils.

Half Demons
'Half demon' is the term for those born from both a demon and a human. These half demons have a strange body structure, and are often the subject of many experiments. They often find it hard to integrate into the society of either the humans or the great demon tribes, and as such often band together in small colonies. The children of the leaders of the great demon tribes are often rejected by even these half demon communities and will either be solitary or hide their identity. They can easily be identified by their silver hair.
Two of the only known exceptions is the youngest child of the Crane leader, who has joined the Hunters guild, and is active and well respected within the human society, and their elder sibling who is an relations negotiator.
